Day 57: Today, I am thankful for people like my brother who spend long hours clearing roads and parking lots as such so others can travel safely!

Day 56: We are having a blizzard here today and I must say....today I am thankful to be snow in with my family instead of home by myself. Let me explain a little. Almost every time ReneƩ and her family come to town, I (and usually Dudley) like to sleep over at mom and dad's, too. Most people think I am crazy because we just live three miles down the road. However, I don't care what others think. I like to be able to spend as much time with my family as I can when they are in town!

Joy to the World

December 20, 2012

Day 50: I am thankful for the heat we have in our house. It was super windy and cold today, and I can't imagine not having a warm place to keep is out of the elements.

December 21, 2012

Day 51: Today, I am thankful for the opportunity to work in an elementary school. At "work" today we got to wear our jammies, do fun Christmas activities, eat a snack, color and watch the Polar Express. It was a great, relaxing day for all of us!

December 22, 2012

Day 52: I  thankful for all the wonderful memories I have of my Mamaw Reedy!

December 23-25

I Know, I Know.....

I know...I am WAY behind. In my defense, I have been trying to catch-up the last two days but Blogger wasn't cooperating. So, here it goes...

December 12, 2012

Day 42: I am thankful for our house. I am grateful that we were able to purchase our first home this past summer! I know home ownership has its ups and downs, but we are loving being on our own, not in an apartment.

December 13, 2012

Day 43: I am thankful for books to read. Nothing can calm me down and help me to relax like reading a book before I go to sleep. I love finishing my day this way because it allows me to escape from all the stresses of life.

December 14, 2012

Day 44: I am thankful for my kiddos! After all of the events that occurred on this day, it makes me really love all my students even the ones who require a little more patience from me. They are all innocent 5, 6, and 7 year-olds, and I may be the only safe and loving thing they see in a day. I need to make sure that I remind myself everyday how precious these kiddos are to me!

December 15, 2012

Day 45: Today, I am thankful for medication. I know that may seem like a silly thing to be thankful for, but with all the allergy problems I have, I am glad there is some sort of relief.

December 16, 2012

Day 46: I am thankful for a family that understands that sometimes you just need a time to rest and get yourself back together.

December 17, 2012

Day 47: I am thankful for silliness! Everyday this week the Kindergarten classes is having a special day to celebrate the holidays. It is a good way to take off some of the tension from all the assessing we had been doing the last several weeks, and a way to make sure we aren't all going crazy waiting to get through this week!

December 18, 2012

Day 48: I am thankful for Dr. Pepper! It may not be good for me, but it sure does help some days!

December 19, 2012

Day 49: Today, I am thankful for thoughtful gifts! This time of year always reminds of how nice it feels to give/receive gifts that you can tell people really put thought and energy into.

December 11, 2012

Day 41: I am thankful for kind strangers. Dudley and I enjoy eating Mexican food, and have a great little place that we like to frequent. Through going to the same place we have come to know the owner and some of the workers. We don't know their names but they are always so friendly and inviting from the time we walk in that it feels like we have known them forever! We enjoy getting to be "regulars!"

Days 37-40

December 7, 2012:

Day 37: Today, I am thankful for our cars.  Now they aren't the greatest things in the world but they get us to where we need to go.

December 8, 2012

Day 38: I  am thankful for nights with friends! Tonight, Dudley and I had 6 of our good friends over for a night of ugly shirts, Mexican food, games and TONS of laughter! We need to make sure we have nights like these a lot more frequently!

December 9, 2012

Day 39: I am thankful for my health. I would say that for the most part I am pretty health. Besides allergy and knee problems, I hardly ever am sick and for that I am grateful!

December 10, 2012

Day 40: Today I am thankful for friends who stay connected no matter how much time or distance has come and gone. I was able to reconnect this evening with a friend I have not seen in 2 years. I wish we could see each other more often, but the fact we can talk like nothing has changed is great!

December 5 & 6, 2012

December 5

Day 35: I am thankful for coffee today! Not only am I thankful that it gives me a pick-me-up when I need it to, but because it warms me and it leads to so many great memories. For instance, the first time I had coffee it was given to me by my Aunt Merna. She gave me a tiny bit of Sanka at a family get together. Coffee lead Dudley and I to meeting each other face-to-face for the first time. He set up with my roommate to surprise me at Starbucks, and from there out it has been a part of the memories we have made together. Coffee is always served with dessert anytime my mom's side of the family gets together. So, as you can see coffee leads to lots of great parts of my life, and I can't wait to see where else we go together! :-)

December 6

Day 36: Today, I am thankful for the innocent smiles on children's faces when they are truly grateful for something! My aide and I had taken notice of a couple of our kiddos jacks. They just didn't look that great and we wanted to do something about it. Well, not that long ago a washer and dryer where installed in the school for such instances, so my aide volunteered to take the coats down and wash them this afternoon. Well, when I told one of the kiddos what had been done she got the BIGGEST smile on her face and she was so excited! She couldn't sit still she was so excited! It is moments like this one that I am glad I became a teacher!

4 in a row

December 1

Day 31: Today I am thankful TRUE friends. The friends that are always there no matter the situation. Friends that you know are always honest no matter whether you want them to be or not. Friends that don't change who they are because of who they are around. Friends that can hang out in their comfy clothes and do absolutely nothing together. Friends that you can cry and laugh with. I am blessed with a few of these TRUE friends and God knew exactly what He was doing when he placed them in my life!

December 2

Day 32: Today I am thankful for people like my Momma who take time to invest in the lives of children to help them learn about God and what He has done for us. She has been leading the children's Christmas musical at church for like 30+ years, and she always does an amazing job at it no matter the stress it may bring about. She and those who work with her always put their all into the productions to make sure that not only the children participating but those watching come out knowing the true meaning of Christmas.

December 3

Day 33: Today I am thankful for time to actually sleep. I came home not feeling the best and I was able to sleep for 7+ hours. Dudley and I  had a few errands to run, and when we got home I ended up falling asleep on the couch. After a couple hours, I finally went up stairs and went to bed. It was nice to be able to get some much needed rest without feeling guilty for not doing the things around the house I should be doing.

December 4

Day 34: Today I am thankful for a hubby who understands how bad migraines make me feel. I really wish there was someway I knew when a headache was going to become a migraine. Everyone is always telling me that I should take medicine when I feel a migraine coming on. Well, when you have had headaches as long as I have you never know if it is a migraine or just a really bad headache. Dudley is such a sport when I have one of those days and does his best to make me as comfortable as possible. I love him so much for doing what he can to help!
