Where Has Time Gone???

Here we are January 3, 2012. I can't believe that it is half-way through my first year of teaching Kindergarten. I never thought I would be in my own classroom teaching my own set of students. I have known I always wanted to work with children, especially kindergartners, but after many setbacks I haven't always been sure when or if that was going to happen.

Now that it is the beginning of the second semester, my love for working with kids just keeps growing. I am not sure I will forever be working in the school system, but I am sure that I will always be working with kids in one way or another!

As I think about starting back to school tomorrow, I know that my students have come a long way since the first day of school, but i also know we have a lot to do to make sure they are ready for first grade! I can't wait to see where this next semester takes us. I know we are all going to continue to grow together as we finish out this year!

New Year, New Things

Now that we have Internet at home, I had planned on starting this blog back up yesterday but it seemed like sleep took over :)

I am looking forward to all the things that lie ahead in 2012. I know that God has big things in store for Dudley and I in the coming year. I am anxious to see what those things are, but I know that patience is the only way I will get to those things!

Here's to praying, listening and letting God take complete control of the road ahead!

Here we go....

Well, the 2011-2012 School year has began, and let me tell you, it has been quite a journey so far. Let me start at the beginning....

A week before school is to start and we still aren't able to get in the building. Finally on August 3 I was able to get in my room. It was one of the hottest days we had this summer. Dudley and I get my mom and dads van loaded up with all the stuff I have been keeping in our apartment. We get up to the school only to find out there is no electricity which means there is no AC and we can't really do anything in my room still. Here are pictures of what we saw:
That is all my stuff that was left in my room piled up in the corner.

So, all Dudley and I got to do that day was put paper up on my bulletin boards and that in itself was a task. We had to get the paper out of the closet using the light on Dudley's phone as a flashlight, and hang it while we sweated in 90+ heat.

We finally really got to start working on Friday and I worked for the next week straight with the help of my mom, cousin Susan, and more! I couldn't have done it without them. I didn't get my tables or chairs until the Tuesday and Wednesday before school started on Thursday.
Here is what my room turned out to look like (I must say, I am quite pleased):

I am not very good at this....

I guess blogging just isn't my thing. I think it is due to 2 things:

1. I don't have direct access to the Internet. I have to either pack up the computer and go to my parents or the library.

2. I don't feel like there is a lot going on in my life to blog about. I don't have children, my job is the same day in and day out. I am not complaining about my life but I guess in my eyes there just isn't a whole lot of excitement.

Maybe one day I will be good at blogging....

Been way to long....

I know, I know....it has been an extremely long time since my last post. Let me fill you in.

Since my last post I have.....
- gotten married to my best friend
-went on our honeymoon for a week to Montego Bay, Jamaica
-had a wedding reception in Georgia for Dudley's home church to attend
-started back to work as a prime-time aide for Kindergarten classes
-went through my father-in-law going through a very scary heart attack but coming through amazingly. Praise the Lord! We KNOW it was all His doing!
-spent time with lots of friends and family and have gotten closer with new friends
-and most recently got to spend the weekend with friends before they have their first child.

There has been a lot going on, I promise to try to update more often. It may be hard though because I don't have the Internet at home.

Last week at home....

This is my last week at home and I have to admit, it is kind of bittersweet. I am so excited to be marrying Dudley. I am looking forward to the road God is going to lead us on as we begin our lives together.

With that being said, I am going to miss being at home and around my parents. I have always been one who wants my parents around for everything they can be. Sure I know there were times when I didn't feel this way, but overall it has been my thinking. I have never been embarrassed to have my parents on school trips, or to have them at camp with me. In fact, I have loved having them there! I am very much a mom and a daddy's girl. Maybe it is because I am the baby of the family I don't know. I just know it will be quite an adjustment for me.

Another thing that is on my mind, and was reaffirmed this morning, is how much I will miss not having Mamaw (Grandma Reedy) here this weekend.

This morning in my daily prayer thing from church it said to pray for someone who touched your life. I couldn't pick for just one. I'll admit I didn't pray for everyone that did, but I couldn't narrow it down to one. I had to start at the beginning with my grandparents, especially Mamaw and Grandpa Petersen. I have been blessed to have some of the most Godly examples of grandparents any one could ask for. Mamaw was so involved in working with children and youth, and Grandpa is one of the most Biblical knowledgeable men I know.

My thanks didn't end there (how could it) I am blessed to have two of the most amazing parents! If it weren't for them, not only would I not exist, but I wouldn't be who I am today. I can only hope that Dudley and I can live up their example of a Godly marriage.

Finally, I couldn't finish my thanksgiving without mentioning my siblings. Like any sibling relationship, we had our share of ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade Adam and Renee' for anything. I love looking back and seeing how far we have come from when we were little. I love them both so much and cherish the memories we have (like playing cards on the floor, "Come home, come home, all little cards come home... :) ) and all the memories to come.

I know this blog was long and changed from subject to subject but it is what is on my heart and mind today.

Whew....

Less than a month till the wedding and there is a lot going on. I am currently teaching a class of 16 kids who will be in Kindergarten in the fall. It is a Kindergarten Camp to help get them prepared for the year ahead. It started last Friday and goes until June 11, 9-12p.m. every day. Yeah, it is only for three hours a day but we have quite a bit we have to get in in those 3 hours.

In addition to that, I am trying to get as much of my stuff as I can packed up and moved to our apartment so it will feel as much like home when we get back from the honeymoon as it can. It is going pretty well so far, but you really never realize how much stuff you have till it comes to a time like this.

Oh, and lets not forget the most important thing going on....finishing up last minute details for the wedding :) Things are going well just a few more things to finalize.
